I was bored and tuned into Terminator 3 last night on FX. While watching the end, I realized that SkyNet was in computers that could not possibly survive the blasts. Supposedly, it had gotten into the average desktop PC and that was why Conner couldn't kill it. However, if those computers survived the directly impact forces from the blast, they wouldn't survive the magnetic pulse.

Will Pittenger
Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums:
{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}

it was located in a metal framed/sided building which would act as a Faraday cage. Even houses are now being built metal studs these days, so.....

Then there are the numerous PC's located in magnetically shielded structures housing MRI scanners, those underground etc. etc.

Well, no power = no puters...except for those with emergency backup systems or dedicated power supplies...

As for the T2 time paradox...bah, single time lines are boring!

Or, as douglas adams said, if the universe came to a halt for every little paradox, life would be impossible. :)

Also, arguably, somebody did invent the chip as further chips aren't exact copies. The original served as an inspiration, as they had to reverse engineer it to figure out what it did, how it worked, and how to make it. Now, if all they could do was slap out copies of it...then you might have a case.

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector. Goes "bing" when there's stuff. It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually. I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

it would just seem to me like every time you went back in time, you would be making your time more advanced.

teach science to your ancestors, but if we could actually go back

it is like if you were reborn, but you know what you knew up untill you are reborn, but then when you switch from being a solitary creature, and start to conform to your surroundings, and bam you remember nothing.

because when you remembered it, you were speaking russian, or vietnemese, and this time it's english, or not even a language we speak in this realm.
