1. It depends on the writer of the episode and what his plot requirements are.
2. Q.
3. See answer 1.
4. Going through a wormhole always moves you faster than convential warp drive. That's why you use it.

Quantum torpedoes are based on the theory of quantum zero-point energy, which is theoretically more powerful even than anti-matter. Although, anti-matter can be used for propulsion, I don't think zero-point could be used for engines, though I don't know enough about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy

Though it would be good for making energy literally from 'nothing'. However, causality would have it that you don't get something for nothing.

As for Deep Space Nine: it was almost never a show about technology and techno-babble -- it was a show about character and story, which was why I loved it. I think it will be the Star Trek show that will therefore stand the test of time better than the others.

One major factor in its quality: a great deal of DS-9s best story arcs and ideas came from Ronald Moore, the current master of "Battlestar Galactica".

Enough said!!

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

The very premise of the show annoys me.

Oh lets break warp ten that'll get us home faster.

Okay

5 mins later

There, that should do it!!!

Why is that episode the one thats always repeated as well?
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. I have to agree with you there -- and it wasn't in just one incarnation of the show. The Enterprise (A, B, C, or D) or Voyager -- or the silly space station -- would face some impossible situation or other. And Spock... or Geordi... or Data... or SevenofNine would invent a gadget that does the impossible, thus saving the day. Usually after just a few minutes of brainstorming.
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

I love Star Trek for the technolgy, which are so real, now, we are developing almost all of them, including anti matter, worm hole, fusion, even teleportation technology is available at an atom size.

If i like character and story, i will watch drama movie by tom hanks or soap opera. If i like the battle, Movies like star wars and starship trooper have more action.
But i agree with you that stupid episode about warp 10, that is the ugly episode.

voyager is IMO the closest of the "next gen" trek series to the original kirk and crew spirit..in that it takes a few risks...woman as captain is moderately risky...it fully embodies the old kirk philosphy best summed up in the spoof song.."we come in peace....shoot to kill"

for me the thing which has my brain melting about Janeway is just how often she justifys the near destruction of a race or an ancient artifact with a almost in sane series of moral googly flip

my favourite is the ancient transmitter array...stood there for 100,000 years powered by self contained black holes....30 minutes after voyager truns up the entire thing which stretchs all the way back to the Alpha quadrant...is toast...nadda ..gone... the whole thing blown up just to provide an easy escape window for voyager whilst she is under attack....(by the people who have a prior claim on it by the way lol)
i wonder if Americans actualy notice this sort of in sane behaviour as being in the slightest bit odd
it jumps of the screen down your throat for me here in the UK..talk about beligerant
Janeway is definitely Captain kirk in drag..

still it's an art form in it self...reminds me of Chauncer's morality tales set in the future...marvelous

One thing I didn't like about Voyager was that they would get the crap beat out of their ship on a regular basis and the next episode the ship is pristine again without benefit of a starbase.

wrong. 7o9 would bend space and time with her camel-toe and eliminate the problem before it even started, while causing a million geeks to wet their fanny packs.

Pretty danged inspiring though, eh?
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

In other words, where are they getting all of the parts (parts bigger than can come out of a replicator, mind you) to keep rebuilding the ship.

So, again we are defeated. They do have replicator to make spare part of almost anything, except chinese food. I remember the part when the Captain warned one of his stuff who replicated sparepart for one of his fancy combat ship. For the Voyager external build, all enterprises use self regenerating technology.
Who says they never run out of supply? Not few episodes they have problem with their fuel. Also many times they exchanged raw material with the alien, sometime they search and harvest some necessary material from an abandon planets.
