Just looked at the wallpaper section of this site.
Are these images real??

Im gonna guess some of these are not. Can someone tell me which sections are actually real thanks

I had never paid any attention to the wallpaper section before, but after a quick browse, I'd say the majority are Artists Conceptions of observed phenomena. The rest are actual photos.

sorry im kinda new to all of this,
but is it possible to see something like this (link below) from a telescope on land?? and if so, how much would i be looking at?

That photo was taken by the Hubble Telescope, which orbits the Earth above the atmosphere. It is difficult to see such detail from down here on Earth, due to the atmosphere. These photos are taken with long exposure times, in order to collect as much light as possible and the atmosphere gets in the way!

Have a look in the Astrophotography forum if you want to see the results you can get from a telescope down here!

hmm very true, cant believe i didnt think of that. well i looked at that forum and there actually wasnt much for pics so i couldnt get a rly good idea.
just gonna ask some quick questions, thanks for putting up with them

if i were to buy lets say a good $200 telescope would it be possible to view galaxies?
would i be able to view a decently good image of mars?
or see saturns rings?
one thing that ive never been able to find out about or been able to look it up, what about taking pictures with a telescope??

i have owned a telescope before but it was many years ago and i lost the most important piece ironicly...

$200 isn't really enough for good views, for that amount you are better off buying a good pair of binoculars. For a good starting point, read through the topic at the top called Looking to buy your first telescope? Read This! In there are the answers to most possible questions! Then come back here if you have any specific questions that aren't covered or you are unsure about. Even though it's not your first, it is a superb background on the subject.

I think a good idea is to try to find an amature astronamy club in your area and go to a star party. You will be able to look through many different telescopes for free and ask lots of questions. There are many different kinds of scopes depending on what you are interested in looking at. For instance if you like looking at planets you might be interested in a smaller apature refractor or if you like looking at deep sky objects such as galaxies you might like a big old "light bucket" of a reflector.

yea i went threw and read it. its just a lot to take in all at once
i mean its kinda hard to read and understand if you dont know what exactly ur reading about.
lol ive never even heard of some of these words, but im catching on, its not that difficult

I understand that, but if you are going to spend your hard earned money, isn't it worth reading through it a few times until you understand it so you don't waste your money on something you won't use.

The other advice, which is the best I can recommend is to visit a local astronomy club and look through scopes at some galaxies and planets to see what is worth it to you.
