It dose not make sense to build a ship for a one way trip. to the moon or else where.

Was this just a troll post, or do you have some actual thinking behind this blanket statement?

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Ah but look at the shuttle, reusable but by no means economic. Comes down to the $$.

SpaceX Falcon rockets will be partly reusable, and economically viable too.

looking at the russians, it seems easy to get a pay load to orbit. so should we not use that technology to load a platform capable of leaving earths orbit?
Everybody right now is using basically the same technology for launch vehicles.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

The other space fairing nations arounds the world are building rockets.....Private industry is going to explode over the next 20 years.....So now we need rescue capablity, repair capability, resupply, crew change, and cargo transport, maybe security? would you really launch a new vehical for each need as it arose?......do we not always build a base of operations....airbase, firebase, refugee base, etc..the need for a permanantly manned platform capable of at least going to the moon on a monents notice. capable of changing orbits, the ablity to stay in space for long period of time. with plenty of fuel........call it an aircraft carrier in orbit. when the tsunomi hit south east asia....the american aircraft carriers where the first on the rescue. to all land masses in the area at the same time.
you can send unmanned payloads into orbit. sending a vehical into orbit that just carries the crew members and a pilot or two. would be much cheaper. 2. the russians are helping china. the communist movement is not dead. if russia and china could dominate space and deploy weapons, would they????
say we are able to control near earth orbit. what if china and russia go to the moon???? the future could be a problem like the sovet union. also what if some space fairing nation tries to take out our satillite network???? who will stop them??? bush say's to the moon. they need cargo runs. crew tranfers. further exploration and living facilities. a platform built in space to stay and manuver great distances in space is a coming need we better get on fast. before someone like puttin comes along and shoves our freedom up our ass?

I agree that we need a infrastructure in space. Cargo runs and the sort. But it seems more likely that this will be an international venture. Don't fret the Communists. China is the only communist superpower around. Its probably only a matter of time before China cannot support the Communist economy.

What could really boost the infrastucture is mining. Then we could have cargo ships and processing plants in space.

"SCE to AUX" - John Aaron, curiosity pays off

what if china, russia, and the esa. join forces to be the first with a base on the moon???? we know europe goes as the wind blows. what if they have already started and they are going for the home run.....how long would it be? how long have we got. if they unveil aviable means to sub orbit and beyond. would the private sector as well as governments around the world start flocking to the russian china, european space agency????? and what if the communist did take the moon what would be that mean for earth???

another thought is for the united states to be effective around the world. we must vertually be on station around the world via the american aircraft carrier.....unless you have extra rockers just sitting around for rescue operations that are alway ready to go ........we are not on station? you read the head lines over the next ten years there are going to be alot more people in space.....our biggest border problem may be over our head?????
