I found the article very imformative from his stand point and he makes his point pretty clear.

Heres the link http://www.spacedaily.com/news/spacetravel-05v.html

Even though I dont like his proposed Mars mission types. As I preferr Nuclear Rockets and short travel times to Mars he has made his point with everything in between...

Yup.... It looks like its Business as Usual at NASA....

10 Years to build a CEV? Yes I also once said thats ubsurd. I guess the dollars talk and the BS walks...

We have become dependent or should I say expect others to fill in the gaps...

We need a vision and though I am a Bush supporter its a make the masses feel good message if you ask me because his term in coming closer to its end and I dont see anything happening other than us doing circles in orbit again...

"We need a vision and though I am a Bush supporter its a make the masses feel good message if you ask me because his term in coming closer to its end and I dont see anything happening other than us doing circles in orbit again..."

I'm really tired of these blanket statements which only demonstrate the ignorance of the person who makes them. The new NASA administrator Michael Griffin (read Zubrin's statement on his appointment) has made it very clear that he intends to speed up development of the CEV and that substantial changes of ESMD's plans are coming. John Marburger, the head of OSTP, said the same just a few days ago. Read up on the subject.

That was an awesome article, lets see what Griffins going to do to change the current plans =)

I have full confidence in Mike Griffin, although I don't know him personally and haven't done THAT much research on him, he seems like an awfully genuine scientist, one that has vision and one that will get us to Mars in the best manner possible.

I hope because once I finish college I plan on working at NASA or a NASA contractor and I want to change this world, not stagnate it.

"Next, i'd like him to type up a rebuttle arguement against Zubrin or even which points he agrees with."

I'm sure he agrees with some of the points raised. Zubrin has a very high opinion of Griffin. He was among the very few people at NASA who took the Mars Direct plan seriously (when he was associate administrator for exploration in the early 90s) from the beginning and forced the rest to take a good look at it (that resulted in the Mars Semi-Direct mission plan or Design Reference Mission, a huge improvement over the previous 'battlestar galactica' approach).
