Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina will fly on SpaceX's Crew-5 mission to the International Space Station

A question was raised on the forums concerning who pays for these space flights? US astronauts, the taxpayer of the US pays the Russians (NASA does not print money and give to the Russians). How does this arrangement work, i.e. who pays?

There is a serious contradiction in the space community. It is not only who pays for multiple countries flights but also the sharing of information and resources.
We have the nationalist organizations and then the sharing organizations. In US we have Space Force ,NASA, Space X, and others,
I don’t think Russia is paying on this Soace X flight like we did when the shuttle was decommissioned. Instead there is a supposed seat exchange with the Russians.
These flights are costly not only in $$$ but also in proprietary information.
I don’t ever expect the Chinese to share like this and it will remain questionable what other countries will share v on future fights.
