So the situation no one wanted happened, and the lone trained cosmonaut had to do everything himself while his hapless passengers watched.

The whole thing is a farce and NASA and ESA should have told the Russians to go to hell. And maybe have to say the same to Tom Cruise. Space is not safe enough for this kind of nonsense.
