The United Nations Security Council has voted against a resolution introduced by Russia and China that would ban member states from placing weapons of any kind in outer space.

A sad and absolutely disgusting vote. Politicians will destroy the planet and humanity if we let them get away with it (and unfortunately we will).

One issue that needs to be addressed with any "ban" is the use of nuclear power and even nuclear bombs in the service of HELPING to advance space exploration. We have seen time and time again that technology that can be used as weapons often have other peaceful uses. For example, high powered laser systems could be used for communication across the solar system, but they could also be used as weapons. Precluding their deployment "permanently" would impact future space exploration programs.

It's the same old line, if we don't put weapons there, someone else will. We and others more than likely already have them there.
