This is not about speed vs safety. There is no one more committed to launching safe rockets than spacex. The people at the FAA truly don’t have the qualifications to review these rockets and recommend corrections. If anyone employed there had that ability, they would be hired to work at Spacex or other aerospace companies. This is about about a bunch of bureaucrats thumping their chests and holding up this company so they can feel important. At the end of the day, they still have to ask spacex how to fix all these situations..

I can’t help but wonder if these bureaucratic delays are more about helping NASA’s trillion dollar SLS program catch up to space x. If starship is successful, then congress has to question if NASA’s program is worth the expense. Not to mention questioning where all the money already spent has gone, considering starship has cost 5 billion and has a rocket almost ready and nasa has spent 12 billion on their single use rocket and still have a ways to go before they can say they have a working rocket.
