Ever since hearing about Tom Cruise's past "breakdowns" on Matt Lauer's show and Opera/awards/etc....I start to wonder, is a scientific "religion" based on ideas such as NO to mental treatment a good thing? Or some sort of scifi fad doomed to end horribly or die out qietly in some back alley???

P.S. I hear their "tenets" include that some space LORD dumped billions of aliens into earth's volcanoes and blew them all up(Why, if such were real, would they do such.....when the volcanoes LAVA would do the trick is beyond my ken....heh) with NUKES. Lol.

Will this be another Applegate spaceship judgement day scenarion in the makiing, or what?

P.S. Applegate is the man who founded that cult that killed themselves with poison in that mansion.

We have an interesting view of the human condition when an individual creates a new religion, and admits before several witnesses it was a ploy to make money, and yet knowing this, the religion is adhered to zealously by it's followers.

Another curious phenoma (at least in the US) is a vocal group of adherents to Christian offshoots that feel it necessary to codify in the Constitution several aspects of their faith (and some aspects not found in their scriptures!) thus requiring everyone to follow their faith, under penalty of law, and yet at the same time, deliberately ignoring and failing to follow other tenets of their faith simply because those teachings are 'inconvenient'.

And the 'icing on the cake' for this perversion of their faith is that they have scripture (Matt. 7, 1-7) that specifically prohibits hypocrisy. Another inconvenient passage universally ignored.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Sorry, meant to reply to top post in thread, as far as I know, Xemu not after you personally more so than most other folks.

Also:

Very ironic that Hubbard got so much correct EXCEPT the role of Xemu. Xemu was not the bad guy, he was the Messiah of the Thetans.

Xemu, Messiah!

Long live his true followers!!!!

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

And a curious omission from Hubbard:

In all his extensive writings, Hubbard never mentions Soylent Xemu. Literally, the food of the Gods.

Curiouser and curiouser!

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

They're just another way to swindle rich dumb people-i.e. actors out of their money.

That's usually not the case, they end up swindling the average emotionally-distressed person out of their money with hopes of giving them a completely positive outlook on life. The Hollywood elite that are spokesmen of the church are part of the Celebrity Centre and as such they don't pay any fees and get the red-carpet treatment for their support. However it's known that the group digs up dirt on each of these members to be used as blackmail in case they ever decide to break ties.

You can read all about their exploitations here.

I'm just waiting for C'thulu to return and clear up everything--by killing everyone. Gotta love those really straight forward gods.

I really dislike L Ron Hubbard, (the father of Scientology) as a writer of Science Fiction but I find the philosophy of same quite interesting and appropriate for our modern, capitalistic life. I believe that it became known as a "religion" as a matter of fiscal convenience so if you take out the mumbo-jumbo and study only the self-improvement aspects the lessons learned can be very good.
