Scorching alien planet takes seasons to an extreme

Interesting report. I note from the article, "XO-3b might not be a regular planet, but it might be not necessarily a failed star yet, but at the peak of its lifetime as a star," Dang said."

This exoplanet is listed at http://exoplanet.eu/catalog/xo-3_b/, also https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/overview/XO-3 b#planet_XO-3-b_collapsible

Using my astronomy spreadsheet and properties listed, I calculated an orbital period 2.9638E+00 days or just less than 3 day period. If this is an exoplanet, it could complete 1.2324E+11 revolutions around the host star or more than 123 billion compared to Mercury, somewhat near 4 billion using a one billion year time period. The host star is considered close to 3 billion years old.
