china has sucessfully launched its second manned spacecraft.I got this news from my newspaper. Here are something may interest you:Shenzhou 6 is the second manned flight of China. It has been launched in October 2005, carrying two astronauts for five to six days in orbit. The crew will change out of their new lighter space suits, conduct scientific experiments, and enter the orbital module. In addition, their menu will be expanded from 30 to 50 courses. It has been confirmed that there will be no extra-vehicular activity on the mission.

Huang Chunping, the chief designer of the Long March 2F rocket, was quoted in the Beijing Times as saying the astronauts who will fly the mission will be selected from a pool of three pairs of astronauts. Five pairs of astronauts will train for the flight and about one month before launch the two pairs with the poorest performances will be dropped. Although officials have not explicitly said so, it is expected that Shenzhou 5's sole crew member Yang Liwei will not be among those selected for the flight. Sun Laiyan, head of the China National Space Administration, has said the crew will not be announced until one or two days before the launch.

The People's Daily have said that the interior design of the spacecraft has been changed to hopefully lessen the likelihood of nausea and other symptoms. A new toilet will also be available.

Among the experiments to be performed on the flight will be one involving the sperm of pigs from Rongchang County in Chongqing. About 40 grams will be carried both inside and outside the spacecraft, allowing scientists to investigate the affects of microgravity and cosmic rays on the sperm. It will be used to fertilise pig ovum at the Chongqing Academy of Animal Husbandry Science. Wang Jinyong, who heads the Academy said the project has cost 2 million yuan (US$241,000) and it will take 2 years to analyse the results.

Anyone has opinions?
