Here's an interesting site, purely for posting short stories.

http://www.constrained.org/

Various challenges are set, and the stories have to be written to those constraints.

Here's a very tough one:

Sentence length
Write a story. Follow a pattern for length. Create sentences which have the following word lengths. 3, 5, 8, 5 etc. Meaning, you repeat this pattern. Continue writing for as long as you wish.

(Or, if you prefer -- write a story where the length of the sentences follow the pattern 3, 5, 8, 5. Thus, the first sentence will be 3 words long, the next 5 etc.)

And my effort, produced this evening, which I'll try to get up on the site tommorow. I hope it makes sense. It was bloody difficult!

The Kates.

You will die. You know it deep within. But nothing can prepare you for the moment. Then it comes so unexpectedly. Sure it does.

But your agreement with creation? That is, ‘I will continue indefinitely, without end.’ When older, you revise this. ‘When I’m ready.’

‘I have things to finish.’ Things you couldn’t have imagined when you began.

All at once I’m there. The gun wavers. It dips indecisively, then lifts. The woman is pointing the stark black muzzle. Pointing it straight at me.

Not like this. I don’t say it aloud. I’m too involved with all the hanging threads. The pieces of my life. Those things undone. I’m just not ready yet. It’s almost writing itself just then, my future. Condensing on my mind’s window. Droplets of story. Obscuring Kate and the gun. She’s irrelevant to me for one glorious moment. Not part of the narrative.

The pistol cocks. It’s a harsh, unbearable sound. I had vividly imagined I could make it. Continue beyond this few seconds. Hope fades then. I look at her sadly.

“No last requests,” she s

I wish I could remember
But my selective memory
Won't let me - Mark Oliver Everett

Take your time, but we'll all be eager to read it.

One word of advice -- include a header expressing that you retain all rights to the story. Many authors give permission to repost as long as it is unchanged, including the header. That way if anybody plagiarizes it, you can go after them. (Actually, you can anyway, but it strengthens your case.)

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
