Although others before him held and sometimes promoted the idea of life on planets, perhaps beginning with Cardinal Nicholas of Cush, followed by others (Bruno, Kepler, etc.), Newton was the first to introduce a universal law - his gravity equation. His calculus also explained Kepler’s ellipse model for orbits.
