Did I miss it? I am amazed that I saw no reference to the importance of the dung beetle in Ancient Egypt (another of my core interests).
"The sacred scarab or kheper of ancient Egypt was the dung beetle, an insect that lives off the waste of herbivorous animals. It was seen as an incarnation of the sun god Khepri, and its name was part of many royal monikers, including Men-kheper-re and Kheper-ka-re."
One has to wonder what other animals are adversely effected by light pollution. Since all species are linked via the habitable environment shouldn't humans be concerned?
