What if cosmic rays somehow interacted with space spider DNA and space spider experiment got, shall we say ... "interesting" ? Maybe they would take over ISS and ISS would become first space spider colony in space. It would be woven in a big web and a huge mutated spider would broadcast message ... "kozmic rays mootated cpace spidrz sayz keepz away ... iz spce statn minez now".

Siriusly though. Those are some amazing spiders. After a few false starts they adapt to Zero-G and spin an almost perfect web. Do these Arachnids get awards ? Will they be returned to Earth ? Do they even have names ?

As an astronaut I heard on NASA TV said today ..."We're usually the one's getting all the attention ... but now we've got these spiders who have taken over things"

"I am your God.
Not first spiders in space. There was a similar experiment on Skylab more than 35 years ago!

http://history.nasa.gov/SP-401/ch3.htm

They both built webs in space. Unfortunately, both spiders died due to dehydration before return to Earth:( So good luck this time.

I didn't know that. Let's hope the current spiders survive for return.

Space.com just asked a question about the spiders names in an ISS question and answer with the crew. Have Space.com been reading this thread ? The crew said it's a good idea. They've been so busy they have not named threm yet.

"I am your God.
