We Have Super-Villains

Good people, we have confirmation of the villains for Spider-Man 3… sort of. That crazy, ditzy A-lister Kirsten Dunst has let slip in an interview that Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace will indeed play, as has been suspected for some time now, Sandman and Venom respectively in the second Spidey sequel.

full story at link

http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/news/NewsStory.asp?news_id=17121

Any Spidey fans give us the lowdown on the baddies? I guess the Green Goblin which was set up at the end of the last film is set for a slow burn (I'm happy about this as it gives time for the story to develope nicely).
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. Somehow, I don't think so - though it could be.

They may be taking a page from Lucas's playbook who purposely had actors and crew "let slip" many rumors about Empire and Return. All were off, but had fans flocking to the theaters to see if they were right.

They had too much of a setup for Goblin Jr. to take the stage with a full arsenal and armor behind that mirror to just discard it. No development time or plot build-up needed, just add dramatic conflict sub-plot.

To be honest, I would like to see Spidey 4 with the Fantastic Four. there are some already pre-built storylines for it in the first ten original comics {Got them on a cd} just need a little {and I mean little, not major revamp that will screw them up} update to make them more modern.

I think they might be keeping Goblin Jnr is reserve for a really big blowout Spidey 4.

That might be it then for Toby McGuire. His back might not stretch to 5 films, after that who knows.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. "I think they might be keeping Goblin Jnr is reserve for a really big blowout Spidey 4."

Of course, I am a little hung up on the comic book canon - where the the successor to the Green Goblin is the Hob-Goblin - who was not Harry Osborne, but an unrelated person who stumbles upon the Green Goblin's equipment.

Of course, this is 20 year old data.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

"To be honest, I would like to see Spidey 4 with the Fantastic Four."

Me too. I have always been a big mark for the FF (and the Avengers). The Torch and Spidey had a not entirely friendly rivalry for a long time.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Wayne,

It looks like we had some of the same tastes in comic materials when we were younger. I followed the Avengers from the first, with Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch. I also liked the black king from Africa, the Panther, I think his name was.

Outside of the usual differences in both movies of Spidey and the FF, I really think they did a great job on both, and do look forward to Spidey 3.

In fact, it would be good if the X-Men could do a story about the Sentinels from the future. I think that would play well. I would also like to see more of the Beast, Kitty Pryde, and the giant iron man (Collaseus). Sorry I can't remember how to spell his name.

Henry

Colossus and the Beast will be in X-men 3, as will Juggernaut, a villain I always liked (although the actor playing him looks rather skinny, why not use this guy instead?). for some reason I had the impression Sentinels will be in it too (not the ones from the future though).

I look forward to Venom in Spiderman 3. looks like they went for the shape-changing villains on this one.

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

My Favorite Avenger was actually not a founding member - my favorite was the Vision - his ability to control his density, and drawing his power from the sun.

Back when I was reading it, it was thought that the Vision was a rebuild (by Ultron) of the original Human Torch (who was an android, not Johnny Storm), but I have read that that was not true, and the original torch is around now...

I was not a big X-man fan them, even though they were hip and cool..

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Back in the mid 80's, when I was on Bitnet Relay, I used Vision as my nick...

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Yes, the Vision.
I had forgot about him, and his arch foe, Ultron. I still remember now a scene from what I think was their final fight and Ultron was supposedly blown to bits. But his head was severed from the body, and a boy came along and twisted the ear socket. And there came a whif of steam or smoke that escaped from it, and he thereby maybe escaping the scene.
But the Vision's appearance was different for those times as well.
