This morning (just before dawn) I looked up in the sky with the naked eye and I could make out:

Venus, cresent Moon, Saturn (though did not know it was Saturn at the time), a star, and then in the same line way over to the west was a red dot which I believe to have been Mars.

I sort of confirmed my sighting with the software Celestia.

Can anyone confirm you can see Mars now with the naked eye?

"SCE to AUX" - John Aaron, curiosity pays off

Mars is indeed extremely bright from just after nightfall until morning, transiting (over here on the left coast) at about 3am-ish as memory serves.

Venus was amazingly bright right next to the moon between 2:30am and 4am PST. I did take a couple pictures, but I haven't looked at 'em yet.

.

bipartisan (bī-pär'tĭ-zən, -sən) [Adj.] Maintaining the ability to blame republications when your stimulus plan proves to be a devastating failure.

IMPEACH OBAMA!

Hi holmec, you sure did. Close to the star Mebsuta / Epsilon Geminorum.

Mars is very bright, magnitude -0.73 now.

By Friday, it will have brightened to magnitude -0.81.

From my location, Mars transits @ 3:48 AM tomorrow morning.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. The brightest things in the sky today are

The Sun
The Moon
Venus (Mag -4.3)
Sirius (Mag -1.4)
Mars (Mag -0.8)

If you look up in the eastern sky after 11PM but before 4AM, the brightest things you can see tonight are Sirius (below Orion), and Mars, which is MUCH higher in the sky.

But the Krell forgot one thing John.
