Well the critics bombed it and gave it one and a half stars. I went to see it today and was impressed!! I enjoyed War of the Worlds but Stealth has it all over that one!!<br /><br />There was a few minor glitches such as the Naval fliers ordering the planes back to the 'boat' instead of the Ship...but it kept me on the edge of my seat for all of the two hours and one minute....<br /><br />Anyone else see it yet?

I doubt I'll get my wife to go with me to see it in the theater, but I'll see it when it comes to HBO. The premise looks intriguing, and with the development of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), who the hell knows if something like this couldn't happen someday in real life?

The critics bombed it and they were right. It was mildly enjoyable, but you have to have some degree of believability or else you have an unintended comedy on your hands. This movie comes very close to that. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Star Tribune felt that it added too many plot complications to an already tenuous concept. But said that if you like watching things go "boom", this was the movie for you. I must confess, there is a time and place for that kind of entertainment. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" /><br /><br />I'll probably rent it. Hubby will not be able to stay silent during it, because he's a major aerospace geek, with a particular interest in military aircraft. <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p><font color="#666699"><em>"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff."</em>  -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

I was a Naval aviator for 8 years and served on 3 carriers. I always refered to the carrier as "the boat", and so did everyone else on the "ship".

That must have made you very popular with your CAG. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><em>Differential Diagnosis:  </em>"<strong><em>I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are</em></strong>."<br /> </p> </div>

LOL! Probably didn;t set too well with "King Neptune" & the Master at Arms during the "Shellback initiations." I guess they still have those.

Outlaw, what were you flying? I always thought being shot off the deck of a carrier would be a great ride. Maybe you have another opinion on this.

I havent seen the movie, but the cast alone kills it for me. They just arent people that I could believe would ever be fighter pilots.

I flew an F-4b and later an F-4j when my original jet got pranged by a SA2 missile. The launches weren't bad except at night when you were flung into a black hole. The real fun was trapping at night in the middle of a thunderstorm on a pitching deck. You could probably sell tickets to that one.

Phantoms are the coolest-looking military jets ever flown, in my opinion. They are such remarkable machines as well.

Yeah, but who's a film critic, really? Just another jerk with an opinion. I love lots of movies the critics hate and I hate lots of movies the critics love.<br /><br />Most film critics would rather eat broken glass than watch "Commando", but it's still one of my favorite action flicks. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" />

Yeah, it was great aircraft for its time. However, today I was working opposite Lockheed's runway in Marietta, GA, and I saw 3 F-22a's take off and land with their F-15 chase planes. Gee, I wish they would navalize that jet. I'd reinlist to fly that bird.

Dear friends <br />Go here please:<br />http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=117 <br />” The spacecraft's VELOCITY RELATIVE TO THE SUN is at about 26 kilometers per second (about 59,250 miles per hour). Cassini is now more than 9 million kilometers (almost 6 million miles) from Earth”. <br /><br />Since our probe is launched from the earth, it has already a velocity of 65,000 miles per hour (earth's velocity). <br /><br />Why have NASA engineers steered Cassini on this trajectory? <br /> http://www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=h_cassini_trajectory_02.gif&cap=The <br /><br />Instead of increasing Cassini's velocity they have slowed down it at 59,250 miles per hour. <br /><br />NASA engineers think the earth is the center of our solar system and don't consider earth's velocity. <br /><br />In this wrong way Cassini has travelled for 2 200 000 000 miles to meet Saturn. <br /><br />Cassini would have been able to fly along a straight line travelling for less than 1 000 000 000 miles. <br /><br />65,000 miles per hour (earth velocity) + 36,000 miles per hour (spacecraft's velocity) = 101,000 miles per hour <br /><br />1 000 000 000 miles : 365 days : 24 hours : 101,000 miles per hour = 1.13 years <br /><br />If NASA engineers considered the earth's velocity, Cassini could meet Saturn in one year! <br />

I like the previews on tv, but will wait, as usual, until I can buy the dvd to see it.
