I'm compleatly new to Telescopes. I have always had the desire to get a telescope and start searching the skies but could never afford anything even decent. Well to my question, I was on the internet today searchig for a decent telescope at a decent price and I think I may have found one...

Celestron FirstScope 114 EQ Short Newtonian Reflector
sku: 31041

http://www.binoculars.com/products/Celestron_FirstScope_114_EQ_Short_Newtonian_Reflector_5936.html#

I have been reading all the post and info i could find on what telescopes are good for beginners and this one seems to be the best one for around $150. Well I just want to know what you guys think is this a good scope for the price or should i keep looking, thanks for your help in advanced....

A 114 reflector is a very good 'first' 'scope. I have one and have been using it for quite some time, never have the cash for a bigger one . I put a Telrad finder on it and had it collimated (mirrors aligned correctly) and it works a treat. Good for observing Moon, Planets and some deep sky stuff too.
I currently hunt Messiers objects with it, but thats another story.

Clear skies
Cheers
Hi Dracon,

Welcome to SDC! The link to the 'scope you've provided would be a great 'scope to start with (imho). For a little more money I'd offer this as a suggestion also. SpaceProbe™ 130ST EQ

You'll get what looks like a sturdier tripod, better eyepieces and a 6 x 30 finderscope. I would however suggest that if you get a 'scope with a finderscope that you also order a Red-Dot Finderscope too.

Keep us posted and stick around after you've gotten it!

I like the XT6 too, and its optics will bring in lots more for observation; you should really consider the dobsonian. if not, then the best alternative that's clearly better than your own choice would be the Orion 130mm EQ (f6.9) for $229 including an equatorial mount, which I've used before with nice results. but get the dobsonian if you can afford it for additional $20 over that.
