Okay, I could just about stand remaking "The War of the Worlds" * even if IMHO they should of made it to the book but this is scaraledge.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

and

Barbarella

* because of its pervious radio and movie incarnations it was just waiting to happen.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. Agreed.

The Day the Earth Stood Still is an international treasure and should be left alone.

Another problem would be finding a modern actor with the class of Michael Rennie to play Klaatu.

He was even fantastic as "The Keeper" in "Lost in Space" - the man had a presense!

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Uh-oh....

When Worlds Collide (2008) (preproduction)

Studio: DreamWorks SKG

Director: Stephen Sommers (Mummy series; Scorpion King; Van Helsing; Deep Rising)

Writer: Edwin Balmer (book), Stephen Sommers

Producer: Steven Spielberg, Stephen Sommers

Cast (so far)

Angelica Daniels: Melinda Clarke

Unless he follows the book (unlike the 1951 film) it'll be a waste. If he does then it sets up a chance to make the books sequel; "After Worlds Collide", the story of living on Bronson Beta (Bronson Alpha & Beta were the 2 bodies in the book, and both were planets).

A remake of Barbarella can't be all bad...we get to see more woman and in my book, thats a good thing.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen...and those who do not know what happened.

We yes, I'm less annoyed about that than WTSTS
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring" - Chuck Palahniuk.

Although I'd rather they left them all alone, I think a sequel to "The Day The Earth Stood Still" would be a better idea than a remake.

"When Worlds Collide" would a be a better remake candidate.

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

I can only repeat what I said on the thread about the possibility of a Blade Runner Remake.

Hollywood - stop butchering classics for a quick buck. Dear reps of companies that finance these films - take some bl**dy risks! There are a thousand brilliant SciFi stories out there begging to be made into film. Hire some new creative directors instead of the cliche, special effects automatons!

Scarlett Johansson said said she'd be open to do nude scenes if the right project came along

Where's our Rama movie?

Where's Alastair Reynolds films?

Peter F. Hamilton? (probably better as a series)

"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. But this is a serious discussion on whether a remake of Barbarella is possible. Please stick to the subject.

Take from a film maker; casting is critical to remaking Barbarella, especially the first 8 minutes

So then its agreed, Scarlett's got the Barbarella lead, provided she stick to the above wardrobe !

Or less

As for if it can be made technically, of course.

Financially; likely, especially in these days of fantasy movies.
