does anybody else find this really depressing? i mean..humans wont be around to see it i don't think, death itself is depressing enough but when you think about the end of our sun, the milky way, then the universe it just turns to just plain scary, all the life that must exist elsewhere will all be gone and all that will exist will be rocks and dust in endless black, its just something i can't get my head around...how can it all just end like that?

don't worry i'm not expecting answers to the questions, just wodnering who thinks the same as me

Don't ask; "Why has creation led us down this dark and dead end road?"

Look around you at everything in totality, the good and the bad. We have been granted the privilege of experiencing the wonder of life. Accept reality and be thankful that you were somehow, in someway, by chance or by destiny, allowed to dance on this awesome stage.

* Be thankful for the good things in your life.

* Don't live your life thinking that destiny owes you something.

* Consider your constraints and remove those that are self-imposed.

Don't despair. You have far more potential than you realize.

It is worse than you think.

All the protons decay away.

The expansion of the universe never stops so all the photon wavelengths stretch out to infinity (and zero energy).

All the black holes evaporate into photons and the expansion zorches those photons too.

Junk mail will still exist though.

And a lot of dead cell phones.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Great post, Aetherius.

Don't worry about the future; I'm optimistic enough to believe that ultimately, everything will unfold as it should.

It's helpful to believe that everything has a purpose, even if we do not know what the purpose is, or even if the purpose is to simply enjoy life. I find it hard to believe that the entire universe is doomed to the "big rip" and that's all there is to it. What a great waste of resources that would be, unless there is another level of reality beyond our universe as we know it, and the great rip serves some purpose at that level. From people to stars, nothing in our universe simply dies, rather the components are "recycled" and "reborn" with another purpose. Death supports new life. I believe that logically, the same would apply to the universe itself, if may take on another form or purpose, but it will never really die.
