Three years from today, on Monday, April 8, 2024, more than half a billion people across North America have the chance to see another Great American Solar Eclipse.

Yep. The 2024 Eclipse will "eclipse" the 2017 eclipse! ;)

Also, the extra diameter of the umbra will produce, undoubtedly, darker skies. There is considerable sky glow that prevents an eclipse sky from being truly dark, so the bigger the umbra the better.

NASA has this link that is an interactive map where you can zoom in on any location and it will give a pop-up for all the data.

For those who plan to travel to Texas to get the greatest eclipse totality times -- Mexico is only a few seconds longer -- then I have some recommendations....

Fredericksburg, Tx. is a remarkable little town in the beautiful hill country. There are, amazingly, now over 100 wineries that have sprung-forth, mostly on Hwy 290 toward Austin. The first began in the late 80s, IIRC (Grape Creek), and their wines are very good.

The town hosts the Nimitz and a WWII museum as well.

Kerrville, Tx. is another one worth checking into.

Towns farther south and not much farther north are out of the more attractive and often cooler hill country.
