Soon a mission to repair our mighty Hubble will take place. The arrangement of a sending a sister space ship for a rescue mission can not go withount a comment or querries. In case of a serious damage to a shuttle 600 KM above the Earth is it not possible for a shuttle to dock 200 below at the ISS and then await a resue team from another shuttle or is it not possible to dock to the ISS from the Hubble direction 200 KM above the ISS orbit??

"In case of a serious damage to a shuttle 600 KM above the Earth is it possible for a shuttle to dock 200 below at the ISS"<br /><br />The short answer is no. I'll let someone else with a better understanding of the shuttle and orbital mechanics to go into more detail but suffice to say orbital inclinational changes use up a heap of fuel which the shuttle is simply not capable of carrying. It's not only the height of orbit but also the inclinational difference that makes it difficult.<br /><br />Check out the other threads on the Hubble for more info.
