So I've known this for a while now, but what I don't know, is: how fast is Andromeda travelling towards us?
How fast are we travelling towards Andromeda?
How big is Andromeda?
And how big is the Milky Way?
If anyone can answer I'd appreciate that.
nice link!

So maybe life will cease when we get scalded by a nearby supernova, created by a fresh new wave of star formation catalyzed by the galaxies merging 3B years from now....or maybe the sun will get hurled away on one of those diffuse tails created by the merging galaxies.

The slow motion merge would sure be interesting to watch, if anyone is around then.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.
