The Orion Nebula

"In the central region of the Orion Nebula are four bright stars in an open star cluster known as the Trapezium due to their trapezoidal arrangement, according to NASA."

The four stars in the Trapezium easily seen using telescopes like 3 or 4 inch sizes. My 10-inch Newtonian telescope shows 5 stars at 150x or more. My best views of M42 use 2-inch eyepiece on my 10-inch or 1.25-inch eyepieces using my 10-inch or 90-mm refractor telescope for 30x to 70x views. Lower power, wide field views of M42 can be great with so much nebulosity visible. I do not use filters or other nebula filters either when viewing M42. This is a great winter target for telescope viewing.
