The Pentagon is worried about space weapons from Russia and China. Here's why.

FOBS have been a possibility for a long time, even with current missiles. My concern is dropping the "fractional" and simply putting bombs in orbit, so that they could be deorbited with extremely little warning time.

A treaty prohibiting that is not any guarantee that it won't be done, anyway. I suspect our "satellite inspection" capability is already focused on that possibility. But, what are we to do if our inspections detect bombs in orbit? Whoever owned them would probably just deny they are bombs.

So, are we going to be forced to make some of our own?
