And for additional enjoyment when viewing the total lunar eclipse, various locations will be able to observe a double star occultation by the Moon too. https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/witness-a-total-lunar-eclipse-on-sunday-may-1516/, S672 or HIP76033 in the image, double star. HIP76033 is 6.25 apparent magnitude so use a good telescope for this double star lunar occultation. In my area in MD, the double is very close to the lunar limb near 2358 EDT/0358 UT 16-May before lunar occultation (see Stellarium or Starry Night charts). The problem for my location is weather forecast. Possible t-storms, clouds or perhaps partly cloudy skies.

In the Mid-Hudson Valley, NY, it was T-Storms, low clouds and rain. Fortunately, there were viewing alternatives albeit not as emotionally satisfying.
