Captain Melvin "Mel" Hardin's mission is to find titanium and aluminum ore for the Lunar construction yards.<br />Scans indicate an energy source. Exploration into a ring void reveals a cubical wire frame about 1 Kilometer square.<br /><br />(make your addition as a reply to the poster above you. 35 - 250 words per post. "Well played indeed. It is imperative that we let the Council know of this incursion by the infidels, so that all may be made obedient to Allah." <br /><br />(I would note that the original premise presupposes that interstellar travel is cheap enough, and that civilization has constructed enough, that space ships are being sent 24 light years to get two of the most common metals in the solar system. http://lunar.arc.nasa.gov/results/gamres.htm<br />It seems that if space travel were so cheap, anything a mere 24 light years away would be thoroughly explored, so this must be an incursion or new construction, not an artifact.)

All of a sudden the Islamolink computer started singing: "I like big butts and I cannot lie...."<br />Throughout the ship everyone froze. Just then an alarm pierced the air. <br />Lt. Khalib Ionesco, the tactical officer, turned towards the captain showing a face drained of blood.<br />"Sir, our missiles have reverted course and are coming...at US"<br />On the wide angle sensors, a ship suddenly materialized seemingly out of thin vacuum. I thought it was a good idea and was sincere with my post.<br /><br />I have to admit I did intentionally attempt to steer it away from being a conventional story. I have grown tired of Star Trek type stories, where everyone is captain heroic, and they come from a boring normal background.
