Does our known universe carry an electrical charge of sorts?

If so, wouldn't a positively charged universe (as a whole) need a negative charge (dark energy) to transfer energy? After all, matter has to come from somewhere. It can't just be. Nothing can.

Could gravity be an effect from this charge/current?

I'm thinking of batteries for some reason.

Could the mass/energy of our universe be a resource for something else?
