US government report proposed nuking the moon, newly released documents reveal

Bizarre story, just a thought but what right would the US Government have to "nuke" the Moon anyway? The Moon belongs to all of us and has an important effect in keeping living conditions alright for all of the species on the Earth. What arrogance to think that we can interfere with this!

The moon is a wasteland, and nuking it would cause nothing other than a bunch of dust that would settle back down again. Maybe create a new crater. It would have lots of company.

At least they are looking into these possible technologies instead of just dismissing them.

AND, I just can't believe Space.com keeps posting that fully debunked "UFO" video of the "UFO" over the ocean. Are you guys unable or just unwilling to check sources and facts?
How embarrassing to keep posting a video that has been debunked. What's next? Posting videos of "fake moon landing sites"?

The title of the article is misleading: "US Government Report proposes nuking the Moon"
The casual observer would conclude the US Government was proposing to nuke the Moon.
The proposal was made by a private company, probably Bigelow Research, hired by the government, and was dismissed by the US Government probably because it would be illegal. We have treaties with other countries that forbid blowing up the Moon with nukes.
Such research is considered "brainstorming" and is not made with consideration of practicalities or legalities.
