We generally permit cut-and-pasting as long as proper attribution is given, which propforce did. It is better etiquette to post a link or an excerpt plus a link, but we do not enforce etiquette.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

That was a great read! With so much detail you could practically *see* it.

I agree though, seems legally wrong to copy and paste from a subscription magazine.... then again, I'm looking into subscribing now after reading that article.

May not be much to see. Pretty heavy overcast next couple days. 30% chance of a weather scrub.

Slick 6 finally gets to be used after only 40 years.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Thanks, I'd forgotten that.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen...and those who do not know what happened.

However, I have now received a formal request from the author himself. Aviation Week does not furnish this material anywhere on the web; it is for paid subscribers only. Don't feel too bad; it's something not a lot of people think about. Basically, by reposting it here, you were decreasing Aviation Week's revenue, and that revenue is what pays people like Craig Couvalt to write such wonderful articles.

So, we all live and learn. For now, we only remove such things if someone representing the copyright holder actually requests removal, but I could see that changing to a more proactive stance. If nothing else it would help to educate people about the importance of copying. Fair use is one thing; this is not fair use. Most sites don't bother to enforce their copyrights, but that should not be construed to make it permissable. You never know which copyright holder will choose to enforce their copyright and maintain control over their intellectual property.

BTW, it is considered fair use to quote an article. There is no legally defined distinction between quoting and plagiarism, but it's usually pretty much a common sense thing. Certainly reprinting it in its entirety is not covered by fair use.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Go, or no go? Watched from 2000 to 2030, clear horizon but mountains in the way. Should have been able to see if it went. Any word?

Originally built in the 60s, SLC-6 has now hosted its second successful mission. It's seemed like an almost cursed site; SpaceflightNow's launch story described it as "star-crossed". Build for the Manned Orbiting Laboratory, which was cancelled, and then modified for polar-orbit Shuttle launches, which were then cancelled, and then hosting a series of Athena launches, of which only one was a complete success. It sat vacant until Boeing modified it for Delta IV.

I have a coworker who worked on the Shuttle mods at SLC-6. He was very happy to hear about the launch.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Apparently I was not patient enough. My only clear view to the West is about 3/4 mile from the house. I called it quits at 2030. Reports from co-workers say the staging was pretty spectacular.
