Vintage NASA satellite falls to Earth, meets fiery doom after 56 years in space

The article says "The spacecraft hit the atmosphere about 25 minutes earlier than NASA had forecast, Handal said, resulting in a reentry location east of the agency's predictions." I don't understand this; the satellite (like all non-polar orbiting satellites) would have been moving from West to East, so if it came down earlier than expected it would surely have re-entered west of the predicted location?
