Would of been better if they actually landed the egg on the mattress... Egg survives, but could of gone better.

It would seem to be a trivial exercise for an engineer trained in aerodynamic calculations to compute the terminal impact velocity of an egg falling through the atmosphere from any height, then using exacting mechanical means to impact the chosen target (a mattress? Soft or hard? ) with the egg traveling at the computed velocity: cheaper, quicker, more exacting.
