what planet is this?

i've noticed a particularly bright planet kinda close to the moon if you can call it close. What planet is that?

Ya got me to go out and look by saying planet.....brightest object I can see by the Moon is the star Fomalhaut at magnitude 1.16 about 20 light years away <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="1" color="#3366ff">www.siriuslookers.org</font> </div>
