What should I buy?

I am thinking about purchasing a 12" dobsonian but would like to understand the differences between various models and types. Is a Meade of higher, lower or same quality than Orions or Celestrons? <br /><br />Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages between truss tube and cylinder dobs? Thank you for the reply. This will be my first telescope. I am interested in deep space observations so I want to get a dobsonian which will last me a long time. <br /><br />Are the quality of the Discovery scopes significantly better than the cheaper models?<br /><br />Conan
