With an End Cretaceous asteroid strike ..... we all die. However, since we have nuclear weapons and rocket technology just maybe we could prevent such a mass extinction. Note: Apex predators were the ones that went 100% extinct in the prior Big Five mass extinctions. OK, so there's no big, bad, Earth bound space rocks/comets heading our way. But why wait for that "Oh Crap" moment? We can't do much about plate tectonics, massive volcano eruptions, or the evolution of new life forms. That's why people are obsessed with space rocks; i.e.: those we CAN DO something about other than a raised middle finger and political finger pointing.
