Wow! Telescopes spot DART asteroid impact in deep space (videos)

If I did my conversions correctly, the energy at impact was equivalent to exploding about 0.5 pound of TNT.

OOPS!! I somehow left out the square term for the velocity. So, make that a little over 5,000 pounds of TNT. That makes the visible result a lot more reasonable.

If the whole moon is just a loose agglomeration of dust, gravel, rocks and boulders, with near zero gravity it should not be too hard to blow it apart.
