I tried the search, but I couldn't find a thread about this topic... So:

Does Zarya have proper micrometeorite shielding at the moment? At least what comes to this article it didn't have one when it was launched:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zarya#Launch_and_flight
The last chapter and the second last sentence of the article from the link above:

"It will eventually require supplemental micro meteor shielding, as it was given an exemption to the ISS rules when it launched."

If the shielding hasn't been mounted yet, is there any plans to do so? After all this is a pretty vital module because it is a passage between Russian and US segments...

I think additional shielding has been added to Zarya. Unfortunately I can't remember when it was done, so I could be wrong.
Brian J. Pfeifer http://sabletower.wordpress.com
The Dogsoldier Codex http://www.lulu.com/sabletower

It was during the 2 Ruissian space walks in Increment 15. Shields were delivered on 12A.1.

Interesting... All articles are talking about installing micrometeorite shielding to Zvezda, not Zarya. I wonder is there an error in Wikipedia's article... Article from space.com:

http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/070606_exp15_eva2.html

The only thing my googling gave is:
http://www.astronautix.com/astros/tokarev.htm

"3 February 2006 - EVA ISS EO-12-2. Assignment: EVA Crew. Flight: ISS EO-12. Wearing Orlan suits, the crew emerged from the Pirs airlock of the station and first released a surplus Orlan suit with its radio transmitter activated, dubbed SuitSat. SuitSat broadcast greetings in six languages to radio amateurs for two orbits before its batteries failed. The crew then moved to the Zarya module and relocated the Strela crane grapple fixture to the Unity module. This cleared Zarya for the future temporary stowage of debris shields. The crew moved on to the station's center truss, where they safed a cutting mechanism on one of two umbilicals to the Mobile Transporter rail car. Returning to Pirs, they retrieved a microorganism experiment and photographed the exterior of Zvezda."

I guess that this means that those shields are still missing from Zarya.

Sorry, I did mean Zvezda. Was tired and we never actually use those terms. SM is good to go. I think FGB is ok but not 100% certain.

Ok, FGB means Zarya and SM is Zvezda. I understand that these nick names are not used because it took a while for me as well to remember their purpose and the order which they arrived.

Still... It is hard to find information about the Russian segment and the Russian EVAs.
