Story has it, NASA spent millions delevoping a pen that would work in zero gravity while the Ruskies decided to use a pencil - what is the truth behind this?

Also what is the truth behind Neil Armstrong's comment on his neighbour whn he was a boy?

Just too much use of internet, urban legend or what???

With regards to the pen issue (this has been discussed before in the pages of this forum), you might find this interesting:

http://www.snopes.com/business/genius/spacepen.asp

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

The space pen has some excellent "social engineering" in it, it particularly appeals to those that like to think of others as "book smart" with no "common sense" - so they jump all over it big time, trying to rub it in peoples faces.

There is a filter that I think we all should apply to our mental processes. When we see something like this, that seems to align well with our "told you so" bone, take a moment to check it out before posting.

Its not hard, just go to Snopes, or your favorite "Urban Legend" research site.

Wayne

p.s. Its about time for the Proctor and Gamble thing to heat up again...

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher
