They go to great lengths to account for the speed of light delay when the space ship is far from Earth. There doesn't seem to be any time travel into the past or FTL travel. The ending where he falls through a wormhole is probably out of reach.

A "wormhole" is supposed to be a Black Hole you can drop into and then pop out somewhere else in the universe.
Dropping into a Black Hole guarantees you be reduced to a tiny speck, crushed beyond recognition.
Once you go into a Black Hole there is no way out.
Wormhole is entirely imaginary.
