Some time ago I came accross a 2d map of the stars visible from earth. The mapping was done by a British woman scientist, whose name I cannot remmeber.
The map shows a lot of areas with very few or no stars at all and the rest of the image can be interpreted as a human with the open arms.

Does anybody have any information on this?

Thanks.

Well, if you find it be sure to post a link to it so we get to see how they've turned the entire 9100 naked-eye stars (mag 6.5) into one giant "God constellation". It ought to be great! It probably shows folds in his robes and stuff; is it a he?

Someone should tell the guy in the pic that he shouldn't make waves.
kmarinas86 - Agreed.

First, on your link, which is off theme:

That link should be corrected. Africans did suffer from so-called Christian colonization methods, but these methods were not taught by Jesus.

That is why we call these religions Christendom, not Christianity, since their methods are so different from Jesus' teachings.

Now, on thread theme:

I am not aware of a second star map and have no idea what this thread is supposed to be about.

However, it is interesting that the Bible refers to the number of stars as comparable to the sands of the seashore.

There are many more than 8,000 sands grains on the sea shore- so a second star map to include this many stars would naturally be called for.

What is the largest number of stars actually included in a man-made star map at this time?

As a tangent, does anyone know how many stars night migrating birds navigate by? I am referring to birds like the black-capped chickadee which do not use other methods like the earth's magnetic field for night migration.

Or how these star maps are depicted in these bird's DNA chemical language?
I rarely ressurect old threads, but...

*bump*

Surprised I missed this one.

I'm fairly certain this is referring to the Harvard Smithsonian team of Margaret Geller and John Huchra, and their 2nd CfA redshift Survey.

http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/~huchra/zcat/

If you scroll down, just a little, you will see that the particular distribution of Galaxies they saw does indeed resemble a stick-figure person.

However, I will provide the same warning to those who see structures there as that given to Geller / Huchra by the eminent Princeton Physicist, John Archibald Wheeler: "Beware of seeing order in things. The Human eye is a great deceiver for seeing order in everything."

Enjoy.

*Edited to provide the more accurate JAW quote*

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

I have been looking for a 3D view of all the stars visible to the naked eye from outside Earth.
That would be an amazing image of "amazing images".
On Public TV someone was showing a 3D image of a face made up of visible stars. I just got the end of the program and did not follow up on it. I know someone has it and many know about it. There are databases of visible stars, how hard would it be to run the data through a 3D-mapping program? What area of the Universe would the face be clearest?
Keep asking and keep in touch.
--for scoffers--
Face it, if you were God and Jesus was your Son what would you paint using the stars?
"Is man the measure of all things?"
Just because He is not real to you does not mean He is not real to many others who know Him in a personal way. What would keep a person from knowing a knowable God? Pride? We are too dumb to ask for wisdom.
