Hey I was doing some research and I got the results of a "Minor" Planet.. called 504 Cora. I'm not sure if it is officially a planet or just an "astroid". I am not lucky enough to own a telescope or have any Astronomy software on my computer so I was woundering if anyone that is helpful could maby take a few snaps of it assuming it is within our range.. Google is not doing ANYTHING for me on this search.

I do have some info on it but like I said I don't have any software or a telescope so it is pointless for me.

504 Cora

504 Cora
Name
Name Cora
Designation 1902 LK
Discovery
Discoverer Solon Irving Bailey
Discovery date June 30, 1902
Discovery site Arequipa
Orbital elements
Epoch August 18, 2005 (JDCT 2453600.5)
Eccentricity (e) 0.217
Semimajor axis (a) 2.721 AU
Perihelion (q) 2.129 AU
Aphelion (Q) 3.313 AU
Orbital period (P) 4.488 a
Inclination (i) 12.891°
Longitude of the ascending node (Ω) 104.716°
Argument of Perihelion (ω) 248.256°
Mean anomaly (M) 304.145°

504 Cora is a minor planet orbiting the Sun.

(If it is "our" Sun.. Well I only know of 9/10 planets that orbit our Sun.)

Yep asteroid 504 Cora is indeed an asteroid. It is about 30 Kilometres / 18 miles in diameter. Thought to be a type C (Carbonaceous) much like a slightly smaller version of asteroid 253 Mathilde.

It is a Main Belt asteroid, discovered on 30th June 1902, by the American astronomer Solon Irving Bailey.

IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(504) Cora / TYC 0062-01249-1 event on 2006 Jul 18, 01:42 UT
Visible from N Africa

Summary
-------
On 2006 Jul 18 UT, the 30 km diameter asteroid (504) Cora will occult a 9.5 mag
star in the constellation Cetus for observers along a path across N Africa.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star
will drop by 4.6 mag to 14.1 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 1.0
seconds.

This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly
provided by Ron Stone, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys),
and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.

The event at a glimpse
----------------------
* Rank: 51
* date and approx. time of event: 2006 Jul 18, 01:39 - 2006 Jul 18, 01:45 UT
* midpoint of event [JD]: 2453934.5711375
* magnitude of target star: 9.5
* magnitude drop [mag]: 4.6
* estimated maximum duration : 1.0
* Moon: 47 % sunlit, 23° distance
* Sun: 69° distance
* rough path description: N Africa

The occultation path
--------------------
* approximate projected width [km]: 32
* 1 sigma uncertainty interval [path widths]: +/- 1.25
* 1 sigma uncertainty interval [seconds]: +/- 1.6
* 1 sigma uncertainty interval approx RA,DE ["]: (+/- .027 +/- .023)
* 1 sigma uncertainty ellipse (major, minor, PA): ( .028", .022", 73° )
* approx speed of asteroid's shadow [km/s]: 29.8832
* web

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
