That computerised animation we always get of the vehicle as it goes through each seperation and engine burn, how accurate is that?

I assume its just taking the data received and converts it into the animation we see, but how it does that i have no idea

The animation AFAIK, is based purely on the plan. As long as the mission is "nominal" it is pretty accurate, but I strongly doubt they update it with real time information?

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Just watching NASA-TV I saw that interview between the commentator and launch director.

Wonder if he is one of the usual ISS commentators. He always sounds like he's falling asleep a bit, lol! But after watching him commentate once the interview was over you get an appreciation for how busy he is trying collect and communicate accurate info!

I'll bet you one beer of either of our choices that I'm right and no real time input is included. Winner gets to pick the location, loser picks the brew

Now how do we know who won?

It would probably take between one and infinity days to tease it out from the NASA site; infinity, because it probably isn't there. Lets see what our space experts have to say.... I can wait.

If I win, I'll schedule it during a Civil War Reenaction event

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I have worked many NASA launches and been in the same control as shown on the countdown page. The RCS thruster firings are based on TM

And with this launch I'm reminded of the question; how does Orbital Sciences manage to keep the Pegasus on the market now that they're averaging one flight per year?? Last flight was for Space Technology 6... or 5... or one of those About a year ago off the top of my head...

The same upperstages are used on the Minotaur and Taurus.

The market is the same for them too, saturated. Minotaur, Taurus, Pegasus, Falcon1 all compete for the same payloads, except Pegasus can't do some of the "larger" ones in this class
