Reading an update on Charles' tour aboard the ISS made me wonder when we are going to get somebody that posts on uplink in space...and if they will post from orbit
After all, we are the largest community of space-minded individuals on the planet....we should have a member or two off-planet as well

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

"Reading an update on Charles' tour aboard the ISS made me wonder when we are going to get somebody that posts on uplink in space...and if they will post from orbit "

Well, right now we can't surf the web in real time from the ISS though it is technologically feasible at this point. everything is done as a batch file, like email though they can call you!

Can you post a link that we can make our group request on?

.

Never roll in the mud with a pig. Maybe when Spaceship II goes up, we can send someone with a laptop to post from zero g?

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

This is an excellent idea, but why not go the whole hog and see if we can get a message from an Expedition crew member?

NASA Public Affairs are always hooking the crews up with various media, schools, etc. Why not lodge a request with the PAO for an official greeting to Uplink/Space.com from orbit. It would only take them a few minutes to knock something up, and maybe the request could go through Imaginova for some official clout.

It would certainly be cool and Space.com could make some milage out of it for a story, not to mention good PR for NASA in connecting with part of its core 'constituency'.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Well, while I know we all think the world revolves around Space.com, the crew already posts a LOT of cool information and pictures, especially Suni Williams right now.

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/expeditions/expedition15/journals_sunita_williams.html

Space.com could request an official event, and they have, usually as an interview. There can only be so many. If you want mileage out of a story, just googleSuni Williams and the Boston Marathon!

well I went to www.charlesinspace.com, the 'ask' section, and posted this:

"Charles, is there a way for you to post on the 'uplink' forum of www.space.com...from space.
I started a thread about it (unfortunately, I am on the ground...) and other members like the idea of a post coming from space.
I don't know if it is technically feasible to create an account and login from the ISS, but it would be really cool if it happened "

I used spacefire as the name and space.com as location.

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

I posted an Ask Charles for a shout-out, too. Hope it happens. The level of engagement that all the "private spaceflight participants" have had with the public is incredible. It has helped bring space back into the general conscience like SS1. They are the high-end early adopters who will build our future. We live in an amazing time, when hard work and money are the only requirements to fly in space. I can't wait for my space yacht.

I put both the URL of this thread in my Ask Charles, and "uplink.space.com" as my location. Don't slashdot the site, but a couple more peeps asking politely for a post might help.

Josh

We need a first generation of pioneers.

But as I have said already - he cannot post here. What he could do is send a message to attach to his blog or email someone and tell them to post for him (then of course, people would probably say it is not him but that is another story).
