Wonderful actor of so many roles, best known as Babylon 5's G'Kar and the One-Armed Man in the Harrison Ford version of "The Fugitive", has died after a long illness. His kindness and towering charisma will be sorely missed in our world.

Rest in peace, Andreas; your perfomances belong to the ages now and we will never forget you.

http://www.andreaskatsulas.com/index.htm

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

Babylon 5 is the most underrated science fiction show of the 20th century, and Andreas Katsulas is one of the most unrecognized talents of that genre. His portrayal in mask and makeup of G'kar was the best impression of a science fictional character I have ever seen, bar none. In fact he made his character so powerful and believable that for all intents and purposes, he was G'kar and G'kar was as real as any real person that ever crossed a stage. I will miss him and always regard his performance and that of other Babylon 5 cast members that have crossed into the beyond not only as friends, but spiritual compatriots. Rest well my friend.

>>Subject: Andreas Katsulas is gone
From: jmsatb5@aol.com
Newsgroups: rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated
Date: Wed, 15 Feb 2006 14:52:01 +0000 (UTC)

Just over a year ago, Andreas Katsulas -- who loved smoking with a passion that cannot be described -- was diagnosed with lung cancer, which by then had already spread to other areas. He quit smoking at once and went on a healthy diet and vitamin program, but there was little hope of a good resolution even though the new regimen was very good for him. When we spoke
about it, he laughed, and said, "Now that I'm dying I've never felt better!"

His spirits were always up and positive, putting everyone at ease about his condition, because...well, that's the kind of person he was.

A couple of months ago, he and his wife convened a dinner with me, Doug, and Peter Jurasik, which was filled with laughter and stories and good food. He
wanted to know all the stories we never told him because, as he said, "Who am I going to tell?" So we did. Because we knew we were saying goodbye,
and there would not be a second chance.

Last night, in the company of his wife and family, Andreas closed his eyes and went away.

He lived an amazing life... full of travel and wonder and good work...was part of the world renowned Peter Brook company... he saw the planet, loved and was loved, ate at great restaurants, smoked too many cigarettes...he lived a life some people would die for.

And, sadly, due to the last part of that equation...he did.

Memorial arrangements are still being worked out, but will doubtless be private.

Andreas is gone... and G'Kar with him, because no one else can ever play that role, or ever will.

I will miss him terribly.

J. Oh no!

That is very sad news. First the guy who played Franklin (can't think of his name; brain freeze) and now G'Kar.... He was a brilliant actor. I think a lot of the success of B5 is actually thanks to him.

Thank you for sharing that post from JMS, mattblack.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
