Actually, I held off banning this current username after moving his posts. My hope was that I could convince him to talk to the admins about getting the ban removed.
I don't know exactly what lead to his being banned originally, byt my guess is that he got into an argument with someone, said something that got him in trouble with the mods and instead of saying "mea culpa", he started shouting that he was being persecuted.
Unfortunately, the nasty PM I got convinced me I was wasting my time - he's gone now.

In my time here, I have seen this go through two or three cycles.

Life goes on.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

In all seriousness najaB I would expect you, of all the mods, to try and find a 'diversion program' type method to keep NSR in the play group. You have demonstrated yourself to be be more than fair in dealing with these kinds of matters, and in trying to keep every side's view respected.

I think I can speak for most here when I say, if you felt banning was your only alternative, then it was the best course of action and we support that decision.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Actually, it's quite simple. Previously banned members aren't allowed to re-register. They have to talk to the admins.

I understand why he called me a Nazi, but what did grooble ever do to him?

Nothing, that is why i replied to his post over there. He should resign and let one of the other guys run the ISA.

"what did grooble ever do to him?"

Tried to have polite, sane and meaningful discussion with him, despite his hell-bent ramp rant. A fruitcake rewards that by calling you a nazi.

The rant on the other board is different than past rants. Wow.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Just got to see what he had to say - he came on and was fine...linked up his site etc.etc. All fine. Some members asked him why he was banned after this thread was linked up and during my sleepy hours he obviously went off on a totally unacceptable rant.

Threads deleted and banned.

Well done, there is no need for the kind of behavior. Mind you this can't have helped his paranoia

It's sad that he had to be banned, because he certainly had a lot of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, he also had very little consideration or tolerance for ideas other than ISA. I really think he does more harm than good to his cause with his approach. I hope good things for him, but am glad we don't have to listen to the endless advertisements for ISA. Thanks!

Rae

i could possibly be a little to blame cuz i mentioned another, though defunct organization by similar name. of course this was before he came on. it didn`t occcur to me ISA also had an IS Academy. as far as i know these are wholly unrelated.

He has flamed out here before, snuck back in a couple of times, and flamed out again each time. Don't sweat it.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Well at some point in his life, his mind has snapped. It might be the 15 years of being rejected. He has this thing about not giving up, but sometimes you need to be willing to accept that you are wrong and your plan is the wrong way to go.

He won't do that though, even though his organisation is being left in the dust by folks like rutan, musk, bigelow. Even JPAerospace has more going for it, and they do it for free.

"even though his organisation is being left in the dust by folks like rutan, musk, bigelow. "

What I'd like to know is that is the ISA anything but this single loonie and a crappy website? I fear it's not but would like to know for sure. There are pictures of other people having meeting with him but who knows, maybe they met just once but the pictures stay at the site as if there are permanent board members and such. Running around and having pictures of shaking many people's hands is easy. Do they mean anything but that you have managed to shook somebody's hand, that's another matter.

The idea of ISA is good (but maybe moot because surely NASA/ESA/JAXA etc already have co-operation, meetings and such) but current way of implementation (crazed ranting) is doomed to fail.

(Dobson's example is so scary that I guess I'll bury the idea of ASA, Amateur Space Administration )
