Could a Space use nano thermoelectric atomic battery be built using peltiers?

An atomic battery is a device that produces electricity, via one of many methods. Thermal (conventional steam), thermionic, alpha/beta voltaics, to list some.

Now a Peltier can generate electricity when experiencing a temperature differential.

Therefore, is this realistic to produce an atomic battery using Peltier's or are there other engineering issues I am not aware of?

One limiting factor with a Peltier-style device would be if the source were hot enough to break down the junction, though some work was recently reported on MIT's Technology Review site that could extend the operable range significantly. You also have to maintain a temperature differential across the junction to generate power, so radiators or some other mechanism is necessary.

Other possibile junction breakdown mechanisms could be ionizing radiation or neutron transmutation. Junction size & materials affect both of these.

Cheers Docm, thought that would be the case

Just floating random ideas, thought this may be a beneficial power source for nano-sats
