Replying to:

IF they follow "the plan" begun in "Batman Begins" and continued so well in "The Dark Knight" then they'll go back to the roots, and in those stories Riddler and Penguin are far from what was portrayed in the TV series or Burton's films. More recent graphic novels have already gone back to these portrayals. Originally Riddler was an obsessive ciompulsive criminal, and one of his major compulsions was to send riddles about his crimes to the police - and later Batman. This dialog from the "Gotham Adventures" should illustrate;"You don't understand. .. I really didn't want to leave you any clues. I really planned never to go back to Arkham Asylum. But I left you a clue anyway. So I... I have to go back there. Because I might need help. I... I might actually be crazy."See what I mean?As for Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin he too is different from what you have seen. Yes, he's short & fat. Yes, he loves birds. Yes, he uses high tech umbrellas. That's where the similarity stops. In the "old days" Penguin was the owner of a mob night club in Gotham. He's not psychotic. He's not demented. What he is is a mobster who sees himself as the "Gentleman of Crime", and as such dresses in tuxedos most of the time. What many unfamilar with the old story line get a shock over is that Batman, and by extension the police, allow Penguin to keep his night club and low level criminal operations "open" because he often provides information and tips to both.
Posted by docm

I'd be more excited to see Penguin in the next film than Riddler. Seymour Hoffman is an excellent actor. He plays comedy well, but he also makes a mean mo-fo of a bad guy! (just as he was in MI:3)

Techies: We do it in the dark.

"Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour.
