Celestron 6SE or 8SE?

For my big 7-0 birthday, I hope to treat myself to a new telescope. Will I see clearer, bigger, and/or objects that I can't otherwise see with the 8SE vs the 6SE? I've been astronomy nut since childhood, but realistically I will likely use the telescope once a week, at most. I still get thrills seeing the planets, but hope to see a galaxy or two by getting one of these telescopes.
